CreekFM Streaming Audio Help
I can't listen to CreekFM on my computer! What can I do?
Depending on the software programs that are already installed on your computer, you may be able to play the CreekFM audio stream by simply clicking on the Play Button provided here.
If this doesn't work, you will need to install a program that can understand our audio format. CreekFM streams are in a format called OGG, which is a method for compressing sounds and music for fast transfer over the Internet to your computer.
Most of our listeners use various versions of Microsoft Windows and, once again, many computers will already have the software installed that is required to handle a streaming OGG file.
If you click on the Play Button on this page and your computer says that the file is unknown or gives you an error message, and if you are using any version of Microsoft Windows, you can download and install the VLC Media Player for all versions of Windows by clicking on this link. (Macintosh users click here to download VLC for Macintosh.)
Find the version of the VLC Media Player that matches your operating system, download and install the program. VLC Media Player is a well-known program that is absolutely free of charge. It can play many different kinds of audio and video files on your computer, and it will allow you to listen to CreekFM right here on your computer.
After downloading and installing the VLC Media Player program, click here to return to our streaming audio page, click on the Play Button, and enjoy listening to CreekFM!
If you install the VLC media player and still can't hear the audio stream, read this:
CreekFM Online broadcasts the streaming audio signal on Internet Port 8000. Some people have firewall software or their router configured to reject any signals coming in on Internet Port 8000. If this is the case with your computer, you won't be able to listen to CreekFM Online until you allow our Streaming Audio Server to send you data on Internet Port 8000.
If you install the VLC Media Player and the program loads when you click on the Play button but nothing happens after that, it is very likely that your computer or router is configured to reject Port 8000 connections.
If you have a router the firewall might be built into that. If you have an anti-virus or security software installed on your computer, you might have a firewall installed there. It is also possible (but somewhat less likely) that your Internet Service Provider may be blocking connections on Port 8000 for some reason. You don't have to un-install, remove or disable your firewall or security software! You do need to configure it to allow a connection on Port 8000.
If you can't get the streaming service to work for you after installing the VLC Media Player, you may require assistance from a local computer technician to resolve this issue. If so, here is the technical information that the technician may require in order to fix it. You may want to print this out and give it to him.
Technical
information
File Format:
Streaming OGG
Playlist Format:
m3u (not extended)
Port:
8000
Audio Server IP addresses:
24.89.92.178 and 24.89.92.180
In short, your computer and all of the other Internet equipment located between you and the CreekFM Audio Server must allow you to receive a connection from both of the above IP addresses over Port 8000. If this connection can not be established, you won't be able to listen to CreekFM Online because the Audio Server won't be able to talk to you. The audio stream does work but you have your computer and router properly configured to receive the signal.
There is static on the radio!
We send our signal about 40 miles from the radio station to the site where our signal is captured and encoded for broadcasting on the Internet. Most of the time this works pretty well, but there may be some (hopefully rare) occasions when the weather or other factors beyond our control could make our reception less than perfect. If this occurs, we apologize for the inconvenience and ask you to stick around – any interference should go away soon.
Thanks for listening!

KEEP IT LOCKED ON 95.3 CREEKFM!
